Principles of Sustainable Production
High-quality clothing with transparent production
We believe in producing high-quality garments in safe and fair conditions. We have established requirements for responsible manufacturing, as well as for the quality and durability of our products, which must be met by every item, regardless of its place of production. We strive for long-term partnerships, allowing us to promote responsible production together and ensure the high quality of our products.
In our production practices, we adhere to amfori BSCI principles, which aim to enhance working conditions across international supply chains. We always strive to build sustainable partnerships, through which we encourage and guide our suppliers in their sustainability efforts. We are also part of amfori BEPI, which enables even better consideration of environmental issues in our value chain.
Caring for People Near and Far
We genuinely care about the well-being of the people who make our products. Transparency, trust, honesty, and fair treatment are values we promote throughout our supply chain. We regularly visit our partners and emphasize responsibility and openness in our collaborations.
At Nanso, we are committed to transparency.
We Operate Transparently
At Nanso, we are committed to transparency and have joined to the Transparency Pledge, which promotes openness in the fashion industry. Our knitwear and fabric products are primarily made in Turkey and Portugal, while our knitwear and coats are mainly produced in China.

Introduction to Nanso's Suppliers
Fair Partnerships
We believe that our purchasing practices can significantly influence the risks associated with typical price and schedule pressures in the industry. We aim to provide our partners with enough time to produce the products and never choose a supplier solely based on price. We also do not use auction-based supplier competition, to ensure that our suppliers are not under pressure to neglect the environment or their workers due to price or time constraints.
Our Criteria for Selecting Suppliers
We collaborate only with suppliers that align with our values and sustainability criteria. We have strict criteria for initiating partnerships and aim for long-term collaboration with our partners. Factors influencing partner selection include:
- Commitment to our sustainability criteria
- Company size, location, and technical capability
- High-quality craftsmanship, price, and product safety
- Willingness to develop sustainable practices
All of Nanso's partners must commit to adhering to:
- Nanso Group's Code of Conduct
- Nanso Group's Supplier Agreements
- Amfori BSCI's PrinciplesLomakkeen yläreuna
- Amfori BSCI Member Since 2008
Amfori BSCI member since 2008
In our sourcing practices, we follow the principles of Amfori BSCI, which aim to improve working conditions in international supply chains. We have been a member of amfori BSCI since 2008.
We only work with suppliers operating in risk countries who are already BSCI-certified or who start the auditing process at the beginning of our cooperation. In 2024, 100% of Nanso’s suppliers in risk countries were audited: 48% had undergone an amfori BSCI audit, 45% a Sedex SMETA audit, and 7% of our suppliers were located in non-risk countries.
While BSCI membership does not solve all social responsibility challenges in the supply chain, we always strive to build long-term partnerships. Through stable and smooth cooperation, we can encourage and support our suppliers in their sustainability work.
Amfori BEPI
In 2023, we joined the Amfori BEPI program, which aims to identify, monitor, and promote the environmental practices of suppliers. Through our BEPI membership, we aim to strengthen the environmental sustainability work in our supply chain.
In 2024, 36% of Nanso’s amfori BSCI-audited suppliers were also participating in the amfori BEPI program. Progress is being made step by step. We have focused our efforts on Nanso’s most significant suppliers to maximize impact and have initiated joint assessments.
Code of Conduct
We require our suppliers to commit to Nanso Group’s Code of Conduct, which prohibits, among other things, the use of harmful chemicals, child labor, forced labor, and discrimination. Nanso Group’s Code of Conduct was updated in spring 2023 to align with our sustainability strategy and the expectations of our stakeholders.
Approved Social Responsibility Audits
For tier 1 suppliers in high-risk countries, we require compliance with our social responsibility criteria. We also accept other social responsibility assessment systems at our discretion, provided their criteria correspond to those of the amfori BSCI audit. Examples of approved assessment systems include:
- amfori BSCI
- Sedex SMETA
- SA 8000
- Fair Labour Association
- Fair Wear Foundation
- WRAP
Living Wage
Nanso Group is committed to promoting sustainable and responsible practices throughout its value chain. We want the manufacturers of our products to receive fair compensation for their work. A living wage should cover a worker’s and their family’s reasonable standard of living, including essentials such as food, water, housing, education, healthcare, transportation, clothing, and other basic needs, as well as the ability to save for unexpected expenses.
Situation in 2024
According to amfori BSCI audit reports in 2024, 28% of Nanso Group’s amfori BSCI-audited Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers paid their workers a living wage. All of our BSCI-audited suppliers paid at least the legally mandated minimum wage. The lowest recorded wage in the reports was classified as the “lowest wage for regular work” level. Some workers received higher pay depending on their roles, but average wage data is not available. In 2024, 48% of Nanso’s suppliers were amfori BSCI audited, 45% Sedex SMETA audited, and 7% located in non-risk countries.
Our Future Goals
In addition to improving transparency, promoting living wages is a key development focus for us. We will continue mapping wage levels across different tiers of our supply chain to deepen our understanding and better target our actions. We plan to enhance our enterprise resource planning system with features that support reporting at Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels. These functions will help us monitor and promote the implementation of living wages more systematically.
