Carbon Footprint
Goal: Reducing Carbon Emissions
We aim for carbon neutrality and the reduction of our own emissions. In the spring of 2023, we joined the Carbon Neutral Textile Industry 2035 commitment. This pledge helps us plan emission reductions and calculate our carbon footprint.
GOAL 1: Our Operations Will Be Carbon Neutral by 2026
Nanso Group's own operations will be carbon neutral by 2026 (Scope 1 & 2). This goal includes our direct emissions (Scope 1) and emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2).
GOAL 2: Our Entire Value Chain Will Be Carbon Neutral by 2035
Nanso Group's entire value chain will be carbon neutral by 2035 (Scopes 1, 2 & 3), in line with the Finnish government's targets. We will offset any emissions that cannot be reduced through our direct operations.
Nanso Group’s Carbon Footprint in 2024
We calculated Nanso Group’s carbon footprint using the Finnish Textile and Fashion Association's Carbon Neutral Textile Industry 2035 calculator. In 2024, our carbon footprint was 4,197.98 tCO₂e, which is approximately 9.7% higher than the previous year. The increase in emissions was driven by higher purchase volumes and material choices. Nanso’s purchased kilograms grew by 9.6%, with a greater share of heavier products in the collections. Additionally, the use of emission-intensive materials such as polyester, acrylic, polyamide, leather, and wool increased, while the share of lower-emission materials like lyocell and modal decreased.
Nanso Group Carbon Footprint 2024
4,197.98 tCO₂e
This corresponds to the annual carbon footprint of 408 Finns.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions 2024
2.785 kg CO₂e / produced item
Approximately 92% of our emissions come from materials.
